Carpet maker to ‘streamline’ operations

Carpet manufacturer Axminster Carpets has announced ‘streamlining’ measures, which includes job losses.

The company has asked its staff if any would like to take voluntary redundancy as it looks to ‘streamline its operations’ in order to position itself for a ‘sustainable future’.

Jonathan Young, Axminster Carpets MD, told local media that Brexit has led to sustained uncertainty and a lack of consumer-spending confidence.

This has driven the decision to streamline its operations and is working closely with any employees that take up the voluntary redundancy.

The number of jobs that will be impacted has not been confirmed by the business yet as discussions continue.
